Located just north of Tallahassee, at TnF Farms, we strive to have transparency in our farming practices and firmly believe that you should have the opportunity to see “where the sausage is made,” so to speak. Knowing where your food comes from and ensuring that it has had a great life is of paramount importance to us. We recognize that the typical commercial farming practices involving confinement, poor air quality, heavily processed food, and the use of harsh chemicals are not in line with our values or what we believe is best for our livestock.

We take immense pride in sharing our journey as new farmers, along with the challenges we’ve encountered and overcome. We’re always eager to help others interested in embracing the homestead life, and we enjoy engaging in discussions with fellow small farmers.

While we are enthusiastic about showing off our healthy and contented livestock from a distance, we must prioritize safety and biosecurity. For this reason, we cannot allow visitors to enter livestock areas, touch our animals, or feed them due to liability and health considerations.

We genuinely appreciate interest in our farm and are more than happy to arrange a time for you to visit. Our local, fresh farm goods should really impress you with their taste and quality. When you plan to drop by, simply let us know. We’re usually around. Let us know when you arrive – no need to get the dogs involved. Our livestock at TnF Farms are an amiable bunch. Nearly all of them have had positive human interactions, and they typically greet us with anticipation, assuming we’ve brought them something delicious or simply want a friendly scratch or rub. We take great pride in ensuring our animals are well-fed and healthy, and you won’t find any skinny animals on our farm.

In fact, our livestock always seem to have room for a treat or two, which adds an element of fun to our interactions. With a bit of time and Faith’s gentle guidance, you might even witness some entertaining tricks. Who knows, you may see our pigs jumping through hoops or our goats showcasing their skills on a trapeze. Our sociable and contented livestock are not only a vital part of our farm but also a source of joy and entertainment for our visitors.

Boneyard Beach is a picturesque and unique natural attraction located approximately 30 miles from Jacksonville, Florida. It's not a single, specific beach, but rather a term used to describe certain sections of shoreline in the area that have bleached skeletons of oak trees that lining the beach, giving it the appearance of a boneyard. Boneyard Beach is infamous for its hauntingly beautiful landscape, characterized by this presence of weathered, sun-bleached tree skeletons, driftwood, and other debris that has washed ashore.

I’m so old, I started out on a ColecoVision which had an expansion that played Atari 2600 games. I later moved up to the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System featuring Rob the Robot and the Zapper gun. Much to my frustration, the Zapper never shot that dang dog that laughed at me in Duck Hunt. I had a Sega Genesis in college and later the original PlayStation. All my gaming consoles have been sold, traded, or broken except for my PlayStation. I found a website that features online games of the classics. It’s been a while, but I can barely make it to stage 2 playing through my browser with a keyboard and mouse. If I break out IQ on my PlayStation, you’re toast!

I am a frequent visitor to TnF Farms, usually about once a month for a few days. I have been visiting the last few years since Tim and Faith moved to Tallahassee to start their farm. I am no stranger to farm life, as I have had horses growing up, and I much prefer it over city living. During my visits, I help Faith with farm chores, lend a helping hand on projects, become a goat midwife, and get my much-needed farm fix. I have always had a deep connection with animals in general, but there’s just something inherently special about farm animals.

When we moved into our current homestead and started TnF Farms, both of us were surprised by how common rodents were outside. We had some ground activity that seemed consistent with moles or voles near our house. The locations where we kept livestock automatically attracted rodents like field mice and rats. For the most part, I’m a live-and-let-live kind of person when it comes to wildlife. I usually try for the most natural approach or give nature a little time to find the balance. We do have our fair share of earth snakes, oak snakes, and black racers on our property. They certainly did their part to control the rodents. But cats turned out to be the game changer. Our friend, fellow foodie, culinary scholar, and traveling chef, Kaitlyn is back to TnF Farms to cook authentic Hawaiian for us again! She told us tonight, we are in for a treat she enjoyed as a kid growing up in Hawai’i. SPAM musubi is a popular Hawaiian staple that combines elements of Japanese and American cuisine. It's a tasty and portable dish that features SPAM, as a key ingredient. The dish checks all the boxes. It's sweet, salty and filling. SPAM musubi is often enjoyed as a snack or light meal, and it has become a symbol of Hawaiian cuisine.

Faith had other evening plans. It’s been a long week and the year is about to wrap up. I think I deserve a little something special for dinner. Porterhouse Meat Market had some great choices in their fresh cuts. My job has taken me all over the country and the world. I’ve eaten some amazing steaks, but I’ve never had a Tomahawk steak in my entire life. Tonight is going to be the night I prepare one and eat it.

Super easy beer bread

Long ago, I was at a gathering hosted by a great friend of mine named Rob and his wife, Laura. She had this amazing almost cake-like bread served with a garlicy-herb dip. I was hooked after the first chomp. This bread was moist, rich, and had a wonderful “chew”. Laura revealed that I loved “beer bread”. Beer bread was a new concept for me. If you don’t consider yourself much of a baker, beer bread can make you look like a refined, baking champion. Check out our post on making a very easy bread that is amazing!
